Week of October 15, 2017

Bible Drive –  During the month of October you can donate a new or used (in good condition) Bible to be sent to Ghana and possibly other nations. It would be a blessing if $1.00 per Bible could be included to help with the shipping costs. A box will be placed in the narthex or you could give them to the ladies of the Wednesday Bible Study group. Thanks in advance for your help!

College Care – During the month of October there will be a box in the narthex for collection of items to be mailed to the college students. Please see bulletin insert .

Newsletter Articles and Budget Requests are due Sunday, Oct 15 to the church office.

Christian Classics will meet TuesdayOctober 17th for their Trash to Treasure Auction. Everything is by donation including the tickets. Members are asked to bring unwrapped items . Proceeds from the auction help to defray costs of the group’s Christmas Party. The meeting will begin at 6:00 pm with a light meal. Any questions, please call Jane Hawn at 374-6935.

Fall Festival – Join us for an afternoon of fun SaturdayOctober 21st from 12-3pm. We will have crafts, games, a maze, scavenger hunt, and a pumpkin pie contest. Free food and fun for all ages. There is a basket in the narthex for donations of individually wrapped candy.

Chef Salad Sale, Thursday October 26th – The Uganda Team is making Chef Salads consisting of ham, turkey, cheese, tomato, egg, and onions on a bed of lettuce greens with homemade dressing and crackers. The cost is $6.75. Orders are due by Wednesday, October 18th.  Pick up is the 26th from 10am-5pm. See the sign up sheet on the office window.

Apple Dumpling Sale – The Busy Bees are making apple dumplings on October 30th. A single pan is $3.50, a pan of 2 is $7.00. Deadline to order is October 23rd. Pick up is from 1-5 pm on the 30th. A sign up sheet is on the office window and extra sheets are available.

Greeting & Christmas Cards:  The United Methodist Women will be taking orders for cards (birthday, sympathy, all occasion, Christmas, etc.) until November 5th.  Catalogues and order forms are on the card table in the multi-purpose room.

Church Conference is SundayNovember 12th, 4:00 P.M. at Christ U.M.C in Selinsgrove (new location off Rte. 522). All members of the church may attend the conference.

Operation Christmas Child –  This “shoebox ministry” is a tangible way of giving children in foreign countries a way to experience Jesus’ free gift to us all. The boxes are available in the Narthex. Each box has a sheet of packing instructions. You will need to choose for a boy or girl and what age range. Please take one boy or girl slip (found on small table by the boxes) to be placed on the top of your box when it is completed  and return to the church by Nov. 13th

Sunday Night Prayer – Please know that the prayer requests that you have placed in our prayer boxes are being prayed over weekly. Please submit also your praises when prayer is answered. All are invited to attend.

Uganda Mission has Weis/Giant/Car Wash gift cards that can be purchased to help support their mission. See Betty Davis or the church office.

Recipes Wanted – The Tweeners will be collecting recipes for a fundraising cookbook. The funds will go towards a local children/youth ongoing cause. All types of recipes are needed including canning/preserving recipes from the garden or game hunting to be shared with younger generations to come. You can submit your recipes via email to Christina McDermott at ccyouth@ptd.net or you may hand your recipes to Heidi Carroll, Jen & Andy Howell, or Christina McDermott through the month of November. Recipes should include the recipe name, ingredients, cooking instructions, and name of person submitting recipe. If there is a meaningful story that goes along with your recipe, please share that as well!! Thank You.
